MBC Group was engaged by CEDP through TSA Management to provide certification services on the iconic Santa Sophia Catholic College in the outer Sydney suburb of Box Hill. The school’s prefabrication construction featured a precast lift core, structural steel column and floor framing, and SlimDek permanent metal formwork. Curtain wall and window wall façade systems were also used, and a lightweight roof structure over the fitness centre. The College is a vertical school with large open terraces and several classroom buildings branching off the terraces. Our building surveyors worked with the design team to enable some complicated fire engineering performance solutions to ensure that a compliant design was achieved.

MBC Group is proud to have been involved in this exciting project from concept to completion and have enjoyed seeing the reactions of students and staff who went from home schooling in lockdown to the new school reopening. The College was designed by BVN Architecture and delivered by Buildcorp in just 16 months on site due to the extensive use of prefabricated building materials and a high level of quality control.
